Nicolas Barth has been a Riverside resident and geology professor at UC Riverside for the past decade. Originally from Anaheim, he has lived in Santa Barbara, New Mexico, and New Zealand through the course of his studies, giving him a broad perspective on management and use of parks and open spaces. Dr. Barth is currently on the board of directors for the Riverside County Parks Foundation and a board member for the Friends of Riverside's Hills. Within the Fifth District he enjoys trail running, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, paragliding, and finding solace in nature. He commutes daily by bike. Nicolas is eager to contribute his personal experience as an outdoor recreationist and professional experience as a geologist and GIS expert to help the county make informed and widely beneficial decisions that lead to responsible land stewardship and improved recreational opportunities.
