Rachel Murrell brings a strong background in history, archival studies, and cultural heritage stewardship to the Historical Commission, along with a long-standing commitment to preserving the county’s rich historical legacy. A resident of the community for more than thirty years, Rachel Murrell is deeply invested in safeguarding the places and stories that define the area’s shared identity.

With over eight years of professional experience in cultural heritage institutions, including service as Archivist at California Baptist University, Rachel Murrell offers extensive expertise in historical research, preservation practices, and community engagement. 

Rachel Murrell holds an MUS in Library and Information Science with a concentration in Archival Studies from San José State University, an MA in History with a focus on Archival Studies from Claremont Graduate University, and a BA in History from California Baptist University.

This combination of professional experience and academic training supports the Commission’s mission to protect and promote the county’s historical resources, ensuring they remain accessible and valued by future generations.
