The Hidden Valley Nature Center Modernization Project represents a major investment in enhancing public access, environmental education, and the overall visitor experience. Improvements include:
· A new multi-stall, ADA-compliant restroom building to replace older portable facilities
· Installation of two new septic systems
· Addition of three ADA-accessible parking spaces
· Development of new outdoor classroom and shade structures
· Renovations to the existing amphitheater and a new stage overlook with views of the San Gabriel Mountains
· ADA-accessible walking paths, new landscaping and irrigation, and a monument entryway
· Interior improvements, including new flooring and paint, creating a refreshed and welcoming environment
Funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and the California Department of Parks and Recreation’s 2002 Resources Bond Act for Outdoor Environmental Education Facilities, the project reflects a coordinated commitment to accessibility, environmental stewardship, and long-term community benefit.
The reopening celebration will feature a formal ribbon cutting, animal presentations, hands-on educational activities, and opportunities for visitors to explore the revitalized nature center and its grounds.
